Business Transformation and Technology supports the business in 2 ways:
  • Technology supports the business with day to day technology requirements
  • Business Transformations facilitate the process through which business projects are delivered
Corporate Legal & Assurance has five main areas of responsibility:
  • Secretariat for the group
  • Internal legal advice for non-claim matters
  • Enterprise risk management
  • Compliance
  • Dispute resolution
    The key responsibilities of the Finance department are to manage all matters to do with the organisation’s finances including preparation of financial statements, capital management, financial reporting, management reporting, budget preparation, investments, reinsurance, general ledger reconciliations, asset management and accounts payable.

    Our Member Value and Service area consist of six functional areas:

    • Brand & Communications is responsible for all our internal and external communications
    • Events & Sponsorship is responsible for all our external and internal run events, activities and strategic sponsorships
    • Business Development is comprised of state-based Business Development Specialists who promote MDA National Membership to prospective new Members
    • Member Services is primarily responsible for assisting existing Members and new prospect enquiries by telephone and written requests
    • Insurance Operations is responsible for managing business requirements from concept to delivery
    • Research & Insight

    The People & Support division compromises of two teams:

    • People Resources provides a range of operational, advisory and strategic services to enable MDA National to attract, develop and retain outstanding staff
    • Support Services carry out the day to day operations of each MDAN office and provide administrative support to various departments

    Professional Services is another key area which has direct and personal contact with our Members. It Is the main area from where we deliver on our promise to our Members, and consists of four main functions:

    • Medico-legal Advisory Services
    • Case Management
    • Advocacy on behalf of Members and the profession
    • Education Services

    The Underwriting & Insurance Risk Services division consists of:

    • Underwriting – responsible for developing the insurance policies, assessing, categorising risk and setting the premiums. Reviews all new business applications and accepts or rejects them according to underwriting guidelines  
    • Support in Practice  a Member facing unit that helps our Members understand their own risks and how they might mitigate them. With Underwriting, responsible for the assessment and management of High Risk Practitioners. Provides practice visits, blog posts, seminars, webinars and other resources for the benefit of Members

    Business Analytics – supports and guides the business with insights gleaned from data from a range of sources
