Achieving valid informed consent
Prevent discrepancy between patient expectations and clinical outcomes.
A clear consent process is important as it results in a better informed, more empowered patient who takes more responsibility for their decision and is consequently less likely to have a negative reaction towards the doctor if what was warned actually occurs.
This highly interactive workshop explores:
- Explores the informed consent process, who is responsible for the informed consent discussion, patient capacity to consent, refusal of treatment or withdrawal of consent, withholding information, and substitute decision makers
- Examines the importance of keeping accurate medical records and ensuring relevant aspects are included in consent forms
- Case scenarios via video and role plays
This session also includes access to take home resources.
