Student Indemnity Policy

As a Student Member of MDA National you are able to apply for medical indemnity cover under the Student Indemnity Policy, underwritten by MDA National Insurance Pty Ltd. Student Membership of MDA National is FREE.

The Student Indemnity Policy offers flexibility to meet your changing needs as you progress through your medical degree and provides cover for claims and investigations that arise from:

  • Student Electives worldwide (excluding USA)
  • Scholarship Placements
  • Clinical work experience outside the curriculum (under appropriate medical supervision)

The Student Indemnity Policy provides cover for:

  • Civil liabilities for medical negligence claims
  • Allegations of sexual misconduct or criminal matters
  • Good Samaritan acts
  • Medical Board hearings and investigations
  • Coronial inquests and investigations
  • Disciplinary proceedings
  • Management of patient complaints

The policy limits are up to $20,000,000 for all claims under the policy with a sub-limit of $500,000 for defence costs for investigations.

The Student Indemnity Policy costs $15.00 (including taxes).
