What is the Student Indemnity Policy?
MDA National Insurance offers a Student Indemnity Policy* that has been designed to meet the indemnity requirements of medical students throughout their medical degree.
As a medical student, there are certain circumstances for which you should consider taking out medical indemnity insurance. The Student Indemnity Policy provides cover for claims and investigations that arise from:
- Student Electives (excluding USA)
- Clinical Placements
- Scholarship Placements
- Private Clinical Observation (under appropriate medical supervision)
The Student Indemnity Policy indemnifies you for:
- Civil liabilities for claims of medical negligence
- Defence costs for allegations of sexual misconduct or criminal conduct of which you are exonerated
- Claims arising from Good Samaritan acts worldwide
- Defence costs for Medical Board and Coronial investigations and disciplinary proceedings
The policy provides up to $20,000,000 cover in the aggregate for all claims under the policy with a sub-limit of $500,000 in the aggregate for defence costs for investigations and allegations of sexual misconduct or criminal conduct.
How much does it cost?
The annual cost of the Student Indemnity Policy is $15.00 including taxes.
