Attention all student members graduating in 2007! It is important you understand your Student Membership does NOT automatically roll over to Intern Membership. In order to have medical indemnity cover during your intern year you will need to complete an intern application form.

MDA National Insurance Pty Ltd provides medical indemnity cover under the Professional Indemnity Insurance Policy - an 18 month policy which costs $20.00 including taxes and provides:

up to $500,000 cover for investigations and inquiries;
up to $20,000,000 cover for civil claims arising from private work outside of the hospital indemnity
cover for allegations (of which you are cleared) of sexual misconduct and criminal activity which arise from you providing medical services;
access to the medico-legal advice line, 24 hours per day, 7 days a week;
premium reductions if you take a break for 3 months or more in any policy year;
cover for overseas work (subject to underwriting approval); and
access to a range of risk management resources, including First Defence, our magazine designed specifically for junior doctors.
