Partnering Your Professionalism Program

Introducing Our Support And Education Program For You
MDA National’s newest and most innovative education and support program has been designed to benefit both the professional lives and wellbeing of Australian doctors and medical students.
Background
The Professionalism Program explores the areas where your professional life, at all stages, can be impacted by external factors including the medico-legal environment.
MDA National is committed to providing meaningful education and information that recognises a career in medicine, whilst rewarding, can be very challenging.
The Partnering Your Professionalism Program is made up of a range of learning modules aimed to assist you, at all stages of your career, alleviate challenges in the areas of wellbeing, work and learning.
The program has been developed by Dr Kieran Le Plastrier MBBS (Hons) MPsych with the support of a broad network of medical practitioners, risk managers, medico-legal professionals and academics. Dr Le Plastrier previously developed MDA National’s interactive education DVD, 16 Hours: A Day in the Life, designed to assist junior doctors identify and manage some common medico-legal issues from everyday practice. The DVD modules have now been absorbed into the larger Partnering Your Professionalism Program.
The Partnering Your Professionalism Program is built around five themes:
- Your Career
- Your Practice
- Your Self
- Your Learning
- Your Commitment
Within each theme, there are a series of modules covering a range of relevant topics. The modules are delivered through interactive presentations and guided discussion, provided by a trained facilitator from MDA National. The majority of the facilitators are medical practitioners and, as much as possible, close in experience level to the session participants.
Participation from faculty or hospital staff is also welcome and there is always opportunity for relevant staff to provide a local perspective in relation to the module content.
Availability
The Partnering Your Professionalism Program will be available for inclusion in existing university and hospital education programs nationally, from 1 July 2010. This first release of modules will be added to over the coming months.
