Student Indemnity Policy
As a Medical Student, you may feel that Medical Indemnity cover is something you don't need now but that is not always the case. Having your own insurance cover is worthwhile as it provides you with the security to undertake medical training in situations where you may be exposed to medical negligence claims or investigations.Your Medical degree may include some or all of:
- Private Clinical Observations (under appropriate medical supervision)
- Student Electives
- Clinical Placements
- Scholarship Placements
With your own Student Indemnity Policy, you can feel confident that you will be protected during these activities with features such as:
- Cover for clinical placements, electives and scholarship placements anywhere in the world (excluding the USA)
- Access to Independent legal representatives who will act on your behalf
- Cover for professional negligence claims arising from Good Samaritan acts worldwide
- Cover for up to $20,000,000 in the aggregate for all claims made under the policy
- Sub-limit of $500,000 in the aggregate for defence costs for:
- Investigations, including inquiries, disciplinary or administrative proceedings by a Medical Board, Tribunal, Royal Commission, Professional Body or Coronial Court
- Allegations of sexual misconduct or criminal conduct
- Allegations of academic misconduct by you
