Practice Indemnity Insurance Policy

The Practice Indemnity Policy provides cover to practice entities and their employees excluding medical practitioners, who each should have their own individual policy. It provides cover for civil liability claims and investigations brought against the entity or an employee of the entity directly in connection with the provision of healthcare services.

The Practice Indemnity Policy, subject to its terms and conditions, indemnifies a practice entity and certain isured persons for:

  • Civil liability claims
  • Good Samaritan Acts
  • Notifiable conduct protection
  • Loss of documents
  • Intellectual property disputes
  • Defence costs for defamation
  • Professional Service Review Committee investigations
  • Coronial inquests and investigations
  • Defence costs for alleged breaches of the Trade Practices Act 1974 or Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth)
  • Cover for Principals and Partners
  • Multiple limits of indemnity with one automatic reinstatement.

We can provide cover up to a maximum of $5,000,000 or $10,000,000, each in the aggregate for all claims made under the policy. The maximum amount of our indemnity includes defence costs. The following sub limits apply

  • $500,000 in the aggregate for defence costs relating to investigations
  • $150,000 in the aggregate for all claims for each of the following
    • Loss of Documents
    • Defence costs for intellectual property disputes
    • Defence costs for defamation Defence costs for alleged breaches of the Trade Practices Act 1974 (Cth) or Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth) or equivalent claims under State or Territory Legislation
