Dr Phoebe-Anne Mainland MBBS, MA (Medical Law & Ethics), FANZCA, FHKCA, FHKAM (Anaesthesiology), FACLM - (Chair)


Dr Phoebe-Anne Mainland is an Anaesthetist currently working in Melbourne as a VMO at Alfred Health and in independent private practice. She is Associate Clinical Professor in Anaesthesia, Chinese University of Hong Kong.

Dr Mainland has fellowship of Australian & New Zealand College of Anaesthetists and Hong Kong College of Anaesthesiologists. She read for MA (Medical Law & Ethics) at Kings College London in 2002 and is admitted as Fellow of Australian College of Legal Medicine.

She was a committee member of MDA National’s VIC State Advisory Committee. She sits on Alfred Health Ethics Committee and the Medico-legal Society of Victoria Committee. She presents on issues in medical law & ethics, including ANZCA final examination course.

 

Dr Travis Brown Bsc, MBBS, Bcom/Bcomp


Dr Travis Brown is currently in the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia’s training program for Anatomical Pathology in Victoria. He spent two years as a Junior Medical Officer at St Vincent's Hospital in Melbourne after completing his MBBS at the Australian National University.

Dr Brown has a diverse background in Accounting/Information Technology and worked for two years with PricewaterhouseCoopers. He has an interest in Medical Law.

 

Dr Michael Galvin MBBS (Hons)


Dr Michael Galvin graduated from Monash University completing his intern and resident year in Geelong. He is an Orthopaedic Registrar at Royal Melbourne Hospital with a keen interest in Medico-legal Politics and Advocacy and held the position of Industrial Relations Liaison with the Victorian branch of the AMA Doctors in Training.

As a Member of the PMLC he hopes to be able to represent fellow Doctors in training as he sees the role of the PMLC as a vital link between MDA National and the doctors it represents.

 

Dr Patrick Lockie MBBS, FRACO


Dr Patrick Lockie has been a practising Ophthalmologist since 1984. Following stints in England, Adelaide and Malaysia, he worked as a Consultant Ophthalmologist at Royal Children’s Hospital before moving to Geelong in 1989. Since then he has practised in Ophthalmology in Geelong.

In 2005 he was appointed as Medical Adviser at St John of God Hospital in Geelong, overseeing clinical governance at the hospital, introduction of Credentialing procedures and managing incident reporting and review, particularly in relation to serious clinical incidents.

 

Dr Patrick Mahar MBBS (Hons), LLB (Hons)


Dr Patrick Mahar graduated from Monash University completing his residency years at the Alfred Hospital in Melbourne. He was awarded the Victorian Junior Doctor of the Year 2010 by the Confederacy of Postgraduate Medical Education Councils for exemplary contributions to medical education and training.

He was also the recipient of a Monash Law School Academic Prize in 2009 for outstanding academic performance in legal research and analysis.

 

Dr Phil Susman MBBS, DA London, Grad DiP Fam Med, Cert Div Med


Dr Phil Susman is a General Practitioner in Melbourne with a strong focus in Family Medicine spanning a period in excess of 20 years. Other areas of clinical interest are Gynaecology, Diving Medicine and Paediatrics.

He held the position of Chair of MDA National’s VIC State Advisory Committee; for 6 years he held a board position at the Whitehorse Division of General Practice and has spent 2 years as a Senior Lecturer at Monash University.
