Dr Jill Maxwell OAM - Chair


Dr Jill Maxwell OAM graduated from Adelaide University Medical School in 1975 and has been in General Practice in Adelaide since 1979. Jill works full time in her own practice in the Adelaide CBD, where she employs four other GPs and teaches GP registrars. She chairs the Stakeholder Reference Group of Adelaide to Outback GP Training Provider, is a member of the board of the Medical Benevolent Association of SA and a Clinical Lead for the National E-Health Transition Authority. Jill is a former president of the AMA in South Australia, a former member of the AMA Federal Council and was the Chair of MIGA from 1998 to 2010.

 

Dr Michelle Emmerson MBBS, DCH


Michelle Emmerson is a GP registrar training in the Adelaide to Outback program and a current associate board member of the South Australian RACGP. Her medical degree is from the University of Sydney and she is a Flinders University Alumnus with a degree in Medical Science. She returned to Adelaide 2 years ago to continue her journey in general practice, and into motherhood, after 6 years in NSW.

Her medical background includes experience in Mental Health, O&G, a Diploma in Child Health and she is an AMA Youth Friendly Doctor. Michelle has experience working in both metropolitan and rural settings and is now working in a Northern metropolitan area of need.

 

Dr Michael Hayes MBBS, FRACS, FAOrthA


Dr Michael Hayes graduated from the Adelaide Medical School. He joined the orthopaedic training scheme in Adelaide completing his studies at Duke University, Durham, North Carolina in 1977 working as a Hand and Microsurgical Fellow.

He commenced general Orthopaedic practice in Adelaide also helping establish the Hand and Upper Limb Unit at the Royal Adelaide. He was a Foundation Member of SPORTSMED·SA working at the Day Surgery and Hospital on the clinic campus.

Dr Hayes has a mentoring appointment in the Outpatient Clinic at Flinders Medical Centre Orthopaedic Department.

 

 

Dr Anna Galanopoulos MBBS, FRANZCO


Dr Anna Galanopoulos is an Ophthalmologist, consulting as a Visiting Specialist at the South Australian Institute of Ophthalmology, Royal Adelaide Hospital and the private sector. She is currently Director of Training for the South Australian Registrar Training Network and also coordinator of the Registrar Mentoring Programme. She is actively involved in registrar teaching and is an examiner for the Basic Clinical Exams, held in the first 2 years of Ophthalmology training.

Her Ophthalmology training was undertaken in Adelaide and Melbourne, with subsequent fellowships at the Mayo Clinic, Scottsdale and Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, Miami, Florida. Her special interest area is Glaucoma.

 

Dr Andrew Perry MBBS


Dr Andrew Perry graduated from the University of Adelaide with an MBBS in 2004.  He joined the training program of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine in 2006 and is currently in his 2nd year of advanced training, working part-time at the Lyell McEwin Hospital. 

Since his medical student days he has had a strong interest in leadership and advocacy by the medical profession. This has seen him have local and national roles with the Australian Medical Association, Australian Medical Students Association, SA IMET, and ACEM.  He is the immediate past National Chair of the AMA’s Council of Doctors in Training and the incoming National Chair of the ACEM Trainee Committee.
