Dr David Gilpin MBBS (Hons), FRACS - (Chair)


Dr Gilpin is an Orthopaedic Surgeon in Queensland with a sole focus of practice in Upper Limb Surgery.

Dr Gilpin has been in practice for 19 years, during which time he has been involved in the active promotion of Upper Limb Surgery having served as both President of the Shoulder and Elbow Society of Australia and more recently on the Board of Hand Surgery.

He was appointed to the MDA National Council in March 2010. His appointments with MDA National include Committee Member of the Underwriting Committee and he was also a Member of the QLD State Advisory Committee (2003 -2009).

 

 

Dr Nicholas Brown BSc, MBBS, GCSpMed (UQ), MPhil (Cantab)


Dr Nicholas Brown is a Radiology Registrar at the Royal Brisbane Hospital. He graduated in Medicine from the University of Queensland in 2004 and completed a MPhil in Bioscience Enterprise at the University of Cambridge in 2007. He has research interests in Toxinology, Antivenom Production and Sports Medicine and is an Honorary Fellow of the Australian Venom Research Unit at Melbourne University.

His association with MDA National has been throughout his medical training often being a facilitator of MDAN DVD education series, 16hrs: A Day in the Life.

 

Dr Mellissa Naidoo BSc (Hons), MBBS, MHM


Dr Mellissa Naidoo is a trainee in Medical Administration. She has clinical experience in Paediatrics, Medical Management and has completed a Masters in Health Management. She is a strong advocate for junior doctors and the medical profession in general, through past and present liaison and advisory roles with the AMA Council of Residents and Registrars, Australian Medical Council and Colleges. Mellissa enjoys teaching and is a facilitator of the MDA National DVD education series, 16hrs: A Day in the Life.
 

Dr Alex Ritchie BA, BSc, MBBS (Hons)


Dr Alex Ritchie graduated from the University of Queensland in 2004, receiving the University Medal for Medicine. He completed his internship in Toowoomba before moving to Nambour Hospital where he enrolled in Physician training.

After a brief period working in Ireland, he continued Physician training in Brisbane. Dr Ritchie has been involved with MDA National as a member of the QLD State Advisory Committee since 2004. Dr Ritchie has an interest in Respiratory Medicine and hopes to undertake training in this discipline in the future.
 

Dr Anne Spooner MBBS


Dr Anne Spooner is a highly experienced General Practitioner. During a 15 year career in Hong Kong she established a multidisciplinary general and specialist family and paediatric clinic. She currently works in Brisbane as a GP and a tutor at the University of Queensland Medical School.

Dr Spooner is an ardent philanthropist participating at Board level in a number of charitable institutions and advocacy roles and is co-founder of the Wantz Committee who annually raise substantial funds to improve the quality of life of Queenslanders in need.

 

Dr Josie Sundin MBBS, FRANZCP


Dr Josie Sundin has worked in the area of Psychiatry, both public and private for the past 25 years. She works both as an adult, General Psychiatrist and in Forensic Psychiatry. Dr Sundin serves as a tribunal member with Q-Comp and was recently appointed to a third term. She continues to serve on the Federal Professional Services Review Committee and has been appointed to the The Medical Practitioners Panel of Assessors, with responsibilities to QCAT and the Medical Board of Australia, by the Queensland Government.

Dr Sundin has held a number of honorary positions at a state and federal level with the RANZCP and has previously both trained and examined registrars.
