 Mr Graham Reynolds OAM

Mr Graham Reynolds OAM


Chairman

Mr Reynolds has over 40 years experience in the risk management and insurance broking industry. He is a Senior Associate of the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance, a Fellow of the National Insurance Brokers Association, Australian Institute of Company Directors and the Australian Institute of Management.

Mr Reynolds has been involved with the MDA National Group since 1993 when he was invited to attend Council meetings. He was a Director and Deputy Chairman of MDA National Insurance from 1993-2003 and Chairman of subsidiary company, Medical Indemnity Services from 2000-2003. Mr Reynolds has significant involvement in key reinsurance discussions and negotiations.

He is currently a Director and Consultant to a number of non-related insurance and finance companies and serves on several community service organisations.

Deputy Chairman

Dr Dennis Hayward, a non executive director of MDA National Insurance since 2002 was elected as Deputy Chairman in December 2007.

Dr Hayward holds an MBBS from UWA and a Master of Insurance from Deakin University. He is a Fellow of the Australia and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists, a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and a member of the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance.

 Mr Peter Forbes

Managing Director

Mr Forbes is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia (FCA). Having commenced his own chartered accountancy firm in 1975, Mr Forbes retired as a partner of its successor, HLB Mann Judd, on 31 October 2003.

He commenced his role with MDA National in a part time capacity in 1981. In 1995 Mr Forbes took on the role of Chief Executive of The MDU, Australasia, with responsibility for Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and Malaysia. During this period he maintained his role with the MDA National Group.

A founding Director of MDA National Insurance in 1992, Mr Forbes was responsible for the formation of MDUAIL in 1997, a wholly owned captive insurer for The MDU in Australia. He was also a foundation Director of MDUAIL. He is currently CEO of MDA National and Managing Director of MDA National Insurance and has responsibility for all group operations.

Mr Forbes also held the position of Non-Executive Director of Law Cover Insurance Pty Ltd (2004 - 17 March 2010). During that period he chaired its Audit, Risk and Compliance Committee and Reinsurance Committee.

 Mr James Freemantle

Director

Mr Freemantle holds Bachelor of Economics and Master of Business Administration degrees from Monash University. He is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and a Senior Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australia.

Mr Freemantle was CEO of Home Building Society from 1995-2003. Prior to that, he held positions in banking (NAB, Australian Bank, Elders IXL) and corporate consulting. He is a Director and consultant to a number of non-related insurance and finance companies and serves on several community service organisations.

 Mr James Lutz

Director

Mr Lutz is a Fellow, Institute of Chartered Accountants. He retired in 2003 as Chairman of Partners, KPMG Perth, after 40 years with that organisation.

 

 Dr Rod Moore

Director

Dr Moore is a founding Principal of two multi-disciplinary Sports Medicine Clinics in Perth. He was elected to Council in 1998 and as Vice President in November 2004.

Dr Moore has had a long involvement with Australian Rules Football. He has been Team Doctor for the West Coast Eagles since they entered the National Competition in 1987.

He also is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Dr Moore is a Committee Member of the WA Chamber of Commerce and Industry Primary Health Care Committee.

 Ms Eva Skira

Over her 25 year career, Ms Skira has worked in banking and stockbroking; business consultancy, project management and strategy advice. She now serves as a non-executive Director.

She is currently Deputy Chairman of St John of God Health Care Group, Deputy Chancellor Murdoch University and a Director of Doric Group Holdings Ltd and RCR Tomlinson Ltd

She was a director of the Water Corporation, Deputy Chairman of Metrobus prior to its privatization, Chair of Forest Products Commission, Western Australian Chairman of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia (FINSIA) and sat on FINSIA’s national board. Ms Skira has a degree in Economic History (Hons.)and obtained a Masters of Business Administration (Distinction) at the International Management Institute in Switzerland.

She is a Senior Fellow of FINSIA and a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and Australian Institute of Management. Ms Skira joined the MDA National Insurance Board in December 2002.

 Dr Fiona A Bettenay

Director

Dr Bettenay is a Radiologist who was elected to Council in 1996. Dr Bettenay has held the position of Secretary (1998- 1999) and Vice President (2000-2001).

She also is an executive of the WA branch of the RANZCR. Dr Bettenay is also the Acting Head of Department of Diagnostic Imaging Services at Princess Margaret Hospital for Children.

 Dr Rosanna Capolingua

Alternate Director to Dr Fiona Bettenay

Associate Professor Capolingua is a General Practitioner and was elected to Council in 2005.

During her career, she has been actively involved with the Medical Profession through a number of organisations including the Australian Medical Association (AMA), both at State and Federal Level. A/Prof Capolingua served as Federal President of the AMA in 2008-9, State AMA(WA) President in 1998-2000 and served on the Executive of the Federal AMA for six years, having chaired the Federal AMA’s Ethics and Medico Legal Committee, the Finance Committee and the Taskforce on Indigenous Health. A/Prof Capolingua was also Chair of the Australian Medical Publishing Company. She has been a member of 2 standing committees of the NH&MRC being the Human Genetics Advisory Committee and the Australian Health Ethics Committee.

Associate Professor Capolingua has served on the Medical Board of WA, Professional Services Review Committee and the Board of MercyCare. Her current appointments include; the Board of Healthway, board positions St John of God Healthcare Australia, the UWA Raine Foundation, the Board of Governors of the University of Notre Dame Australia and alternate director for the Board of MDANI. She sits on the MAC and is Director of Doctor Liaison of SJOG Hospital Subiaco, and is the Medical Director of the AMA(WA) Foundation. She is the practice principle and owner of a General Practice which teaches medical students and GP Registrars.

 Dr Andrew J Miller

Alternate Director to Dr Rod Moore

Dr Miller is an Anaesthetist in active private practice in Perth. He was first elected to Council of MDA National in 1998.

His appointments with MDA National have included Secretary (2000- 2001), Vice President (2001- 2004), President (2004-2005), Director, Medical Indemnity Services (2001-2005) and Alternate Director, MDA National Insurance (2003-2004).

Dr Miller is Chairman and the MDA National representative on the Board of the Medical Indemnity Industry Association of Australia (MIIAA). He serves on the combined Working Party on Risk Management between MIIAA, AMA and CPMC. Dr Miller is also Deputy Chairman of ASA WA and a State Executive Councillor of AMA WA.
